Ashley has been in ministry for more than 20 years. Starting as a Youth and Christian education associate in 1999, extended time in the church building brought love and solace to her heart and she couldn’t seem to walk away. Coming from a long line of musicians, Ashley’s heart and soul is rooted in Christian music – including fun camp songs, hymns, modern worship, as well as old school rock and roll with a twist of folk and/or indie. She was the worship leader at Reynolda Presbyterian Church for 10 years as well as served as Artist in Residence.

 

She has also served in many interim roles within the community for the last 10+ years, including Lewisville UMC and Hillsdale UMC! Ashley has collaborated with local churches to help take worship to the “next level” when they were ready. This included going from traditional to a more modern worship experience including stage design, lighting, hiring worship leaders, seminars, plus offering respite times for those who serve weekly in worship leadership roles. Ashley still works with churches, when asked, as it is beautiful to watch a transformation occur within a worship setting that meets the needs of the community in which she lives.

Ashley’s super talented band is called Soaring with whom she has released two CD’s in her career. The first in 2006 (Welcome Home), and her sophomore album in 2007, called Amazed by Grace. Aside from leading worship, Ashley has written and co-written numerous songs and music – as well as re-written classic hymns with a more contemporary feel. This is certainly a passion!

In addition to loving music and leading worship, Ashley is finishing her degree in counseling at Montreat College. She will soon finish with a Masters in Counseling Psychology; Marriage and Family Therapy. This is a demanding and rewarding career move, but the one thing that continues to bring her joy is worship! “Making music with talented musicians, on any day, can take away the stress and bring peace into the most chaotic of situations.”

Ashley’s excited to join the staff of Lewisville UMC and is looking forward to all of the opportunities to serve God and a loving church family!
