SCHOOL CARE

The Before School Care Program will begin operating at 7:00am on scheduled student days as marked on the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System calendar. Children should be dropped off in the upper parking lot near the steps closest to ASBURY HALL. We will not operate on student holidays, teacher leave days, or on snow days.

The After School Program opens upon arrival of students from school and remains open until 6:00pm on scheduled school days. We try to make our atmosphere as home-like as possible, with an afternoon snack, outside time, movies on rainy days, and a homework room to get a head start on the afternoon’s assignments.

New Tuition Payment Policy

Full payment of tuition is expected to be paid between the 1st and the 10th of each month. You will not receive a bill. A late fee will be charged as follows:

  • Payment received between 11th and 19th ...... $15.00 per child
  • Payment received between 20th and 24th ...... $30.00 per child
  • Payment received on or after 25th ...... Child may not attend the following month until all payments (tuition & late fees) are current.

Registration fees are due upon enrollment in the program. If unusual circumstances develop which will result in your paying tuition late, you must make prior arrangements with the Director. There will be no allowances for absenteeism. If you wish to maintain your child's place in the program, payments must be made on time! Late notices will be sent home in the event tuition has not been paid with the first ten days of the month. If accounts are overdue past the last operating day of the month with no agreed upon payment arrangements, your child will no longer be considered enrolled in the LUMC SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM. Prompt payment is expected.

Checks are to be made payable to: LUMC SCHOOL CARE

A $25.00 late fee will be charged for all returned checks.

Fee amounts are based on operating costs for the entire year of the School Care Program. Monthly payments are computed into 11 equal payment (months of August through June) to keep financing simpler for you and our bookkeeper. Though your child may attend more days in one month than in another, you pay the same amount each month August through May. Therefore, LUMC expects a 30- day notice if you plan to drop enrollment at the LUMC School Care Program.

Late Pick Up Policy
If your child is picked up after 6:00 PM, a late fee will be charged and payment will be due at that
time. Late fees are as follows:

  • 6:00 - 6:15pm      $10.00
  • 6:16 - 6:25pm      $15.00
  • 6:26pm or after    $25.00 plus an additional $1.00 for every minute past 6:26 pm

Please be considerate of employees who need to leave at 6:00pm.

More Information
When the WS/FC Schools open on a one or two hour delay for inclement weather, the Before School will open at the regular time of 7:00am.

When the WS/FC Schools close before 1:00pm due to inclement weather, the After School Program will not operate. Children can be brought to LUMC by the bus but must be picked up within one hour of school dismissal.

If the students are dismissed at 1:00pm or later, the After School Program will open to compensate for the early dismissal. If harsh weather conditions persist, however, you may be called to pick up your child before 6:00pm.

The Director MUST be informed IN WRITING of planned absences (trips, medical appointments, lessons, scouts, etc.). Also, the Director MUST be informed by phone if your child will be absent due to illness. This is very important so that we are always aware of where your children are in the event that the bus was missed or any other emergency circumstance. YOUR COMMUNICATION WITH THE SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM IS THE ONLY MEANS WE HAVE OF ACCOUNTING FOR YOUR CHILD!

Information regarding foods or substances to which your child has an allergy needs to be in writing on the information sheet in our files. Please advise us of any special condition that your child may have and the best way to handle it and report any new changes or new information to us in writing!! Do not assume we know this information.

Daily snacks will be provided for the children. If on special occasions, such as Birthdays, you would like to provide the snack, you may send items such as cupcakes, doughnuts, cookies, etc. to celebrate the event. The Staff must be informed of your plans in advance in order to plan for that day.

DO NOT BRING TOYS FROM HOME. This has caused problems in the past and we do not want anyone's feelings to be hurt or for toys to accidentally get broken. Thank You.

Please have your child's name clearly marked on clothing that may be taken off while at School Care such as jackets, coats, sweaters, gloves, as well as any school belongings they may have such as book bags, lunch boxes, library books, etc.

Children MUST be picked up from LUMC no later than 6:00pm in order to comply with the NC State Day Care laws. For late charges please refer to the Fee area. If an individual other than the parent is to pick up a child, prior WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION must be given to the School Care Director or Staff member. NO CHILD WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE WITH AN UNAUTHORIZED PARTY!!

If you or your child experiences a problem with another child or Staff member, please speak directly to the Director. We will gladly work together to satisfy all parties if possible.

Please be aware of our policies for behavior. It is imperative that we have parental support in this area. Each child and parent must sign our rules stating that you understand what is expected while in our care. Suspension or dismissal from the program could result from non-compliance. By the same token, if you or your child experiences a problem with another child or staff member, Please speak directly to the Director. We will gladly work together to satisfy all parties if at all possible.

PLEASE, DO NOT SEND A SICK CHILD TO THE PROGRAM. If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be notified immediately. For this reason will must keep up to date phone numbers in our records.

Fresh air and exercise are important to a child's good health, therefore, this program expects each child to participate in outdoor activities every day that weather permits. Please make sure that your child dresses appropriately for the weather.

When driving into and out of the parking lot, please be aware of the safety of our children. Please park away from the steps going down to Asbury Hall in order for our buses to be able to pull up and let the children off in a safe manner. We have quite a few more buses servicing our program this year and their arrival times will vary greatly. Please drive slowly and carefully.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK UNDER THE SHELTER IF YOU INTEND ON EXITING YOUR VEHICLE.

THE FIRE MARSHALL WILL FINE US FOR BLOCKING AN EMERGENCY ACCESS. THANK YOU!

Also, we have three buses that deliver children and they have the right of way during our operating hours.
